Metal ceiling question

A somewhat local barn supply store is having a sale on 10' length metal panels in the usual colors, white is what I'll be using for a ceiling. Sale only applies to 10' length.
Trusses in my barn are 4' O.C. Would it be possible to sheet metal screw where the 2 panels meet mid truss? I don't think a classic rib panel would sag being fastened to a truss 2 feet in either direction? Thoughts?

Sure, but be smart and bridge the gap with a couple recessed 2x4's, then attach a 2x4 flat along the panel joint. It'll keep your panels nice n flat.

I just recently installed steel panels on the ceiling and walls of both garages. You will need to install strapping (16"oc) to ensure that the seams marry up properly. Unlike on a roof or even walls, steel on ceilings will exaggerate every seam imperfection because gravity will work against you. I would strongly recommend using j-track around the perimeter and also wherever you have **** joints. I tried to use an overlap instead of a double j-track at the **** joint and the results were not very pretty. Whenever you overlap 2 panels and also have a **** joint, 3 layers of steel start to look pretty bad.

Getting back to your original question, install strapping, and screw the steel panels every 16"oc. The panels will sag and look awful. And don't forget the J-track.

Best of Luck,
