I've looked at these at Lowes and others. These are the ones that are supposed to work on a normal circular saw. There have been some recent discussions, but one question I haven't seen posed or answered.

Will they work on 304 stainless sheet?

I have some 304, probably 12-14 gauge that I'd like to use to fab up a square vertical smoker.

One of those blades may be better that hours with a cutoff wheel!

Yes, they'll work on stainless. Since it's thin sheet, try to get the highest tooth count you can get. Less chance of it grabbing/ripping the thin sheet. I would put it on a piece of plywood to make the cuts. Go slow and use wax if you can.

Thanks for the info.

One more question: Anyone tried one on a cordless saw? I have a DeWalt 18v and thought it may be better for this due to the lower rpm. I'd probably need to recharge often, but that would be OK if it makes the blades last longer.

There shouldn't be a problem. In fact, the slower the blade spins, the happier it is. Take your time, don't force the saw, hit it with some canning wax every now and again, and you'll be good. Just remember to clean the wax off before welding! Ask me how I know..

Be sure to wear PPE. Those carbide saws are MEAN. I think in the other big post about them, I said something along the lines of "Hide your children, tie your dog up, wait til your wife's at work.." I can't stress it enough. One day was dedicated to cutting only (for a railing job I had) and I decided to do it in short sleeves. It looked like I caught full-body herpies! And that's after I relented after 15 minutes and wore my work shirt...
