I really really like this Makita saw, it looks very sturdy and does have some positive reviews.

What do you think? Do you have anything similar?

Many people here like the evolution rage series saws. I personally use a dewalt metal cutting saw, which replaced my Milwaukee.

The blades for these saws are always expensive, but they're better to use than abrasive blades.

The biggest thing that I would consider is; are you limiting yourself with a 12 inch blade on the makita? The 14" evolution has great reviews, a better cutting capacity, and possibly a better price..

I have an Evolution Rage saw and really like it. Not sure how much I paid but it was less than that

I have the rage also, and the stock blade lasted approximately 750 cuts,, mostly 1/2 rebar - over a 3 week period. The blade is toast now.

I just bought a new 'steel only' blade, and I hope that lasts a bit longer. I only cut about 1/3 through the rebar, than I can bend/break it. It beats a hack saw.

I checked out quite a few, Morse, jancy , dewalt, and steelmax. I went with the makita, seemed like the best saw for the money. Seems to work well for my uses.

Another vote for the Rage saw. Bought one a few weeks ago, really good value for the money.

I have this Makita saw and it is fantastic! Cuts extremely square and cuts cold unlike abrasive disk saws where you just can't touch the material after cutting. You will not be disappointed.

I am surprised how many of you have the Evolution Rage saws, are they that good?

I owned the Rage 14" metal only version, it was a great saw. But it did have some minor issues, fit and finish is not great, and not sure about the warranty.

Im willing to bet that the Makita is a better saw quality wise, but the Evo may offer a better value?

I thought I wanted one of these, until I got a horizontal band saw. I can't see purchasing one now.

Can anyone who has bought a rage2 lately comment of the quality. Have heard there quality has went down and cheaper materials are being used. I like the makita just wish they made it in 14in
