I just started the process of building my 28x32 detached garage and of course I'm skipping to finishing the floor before it is even built.
Any who, I live in an area that has fine sand that will be tracked into the garage via trucks, cars, golf carts lawn mowers. Will this sand scratch the hi gloss of Epoxy? I won't be putting in a driveway for quite a while.

Thoughts?

Thx,
Mike

Hi,
Another solution that would be more resistant to this would be to use a 'sanded' floor like our Armorultra FH Series heavy equipment firehouse floor system.

These are floors that use a full sand broadcast onto epoxy, then another coat of epoxy and topcoat to encapsulate it. Has a natural sandy texture that won't show damage from your driveway.

Alternately we could set up a full broadcast system with metal particle aluminum oxide.

See https://armorpoxy.com/commercial/public-government-transportation-flooring/

Materials run about $2.00 per sq foot since it's a 5 layer system, but is virtually bulletproof.

My kids track sand in all the time with our golf cart.

Topcoat with Polyaspartic, 2 coats.
Sweep sand out at least once a week.

Our floor is still glossy and looking great, 2.5 years later.
