Metal garage door bottom seal help

Hi,

I've got two 8' x 7' metal uninsulated (for now) garage doors and need to replace the bottom seals. They are "no name" doors, for I can't see any identification marks. The bottom track is a single line track which holds an oval cross section seal with one bead (round shape bead). The oval also has a protruding lip on it. I've looked all over to no avail. Do any of you have anything similar or can you point me to a website, etc.???

It's crazy door manuf. do not put a name on their doors. If you look on the side of the door there is usually a sticker that will have model #'s and date codes, if you post them I can probably tell you who made it and point you in the right direction. Worst case scenario is replacing the retainer that is currently on the door with the "T" retainer that is shown in Wyhtors link, it is the most common.

Thanks for the help - absolutely no stickers on the sides, bottom, top or anywhere. That's the first thing I did - was to examine for a manufacturer's name. Of course, there are numbers stamped on the parts, but no names.

Call a professional door company such as Overhead Door or another installer....they deal with this stuff everyday and will probably have what you need.

I needed my self-installed door adjusted a few years ago, and when I couldn't get it right, I called my local installer. In 30 minutes he fixed the problem, installed a couple new rollers, and gave me a bill for $30.00....incredibly cheap since i screwed with it for about two hours before I called him.

Then I asked him how much a new replacement door would be...one exactly the same as the one I had (I just wanted to see how expensive his price was)...I had paid $375.00 for the door "on sale" at a big box store...installed it myself. His price? $380.00 installed and $500.00 with a new opener! So much for saving money by doing it yourself.

BTW..his quote was for the same brand door...

I think Windsor door makes rubber with one bead and a round seal, might want to try them.

Wow, you all are really trying to help! The round cross section seals are not quite right. Mine is really a strange non-symmetrical cross-section.. I would say it's oval with a round bead top - not a 'T' top. And to top it off, there's an extra flap of sealing rubber in addition to theoval part. I think my only solution will be to repace the entire retainer and get a simple round or flat type seal that you form into a "U". And, no, I haven't had a garage guy come to the house. I visited the local garage installer and they couldn't help. I will drive to one further away ( a 40 mile jaunt) who says they have a selection of seals in-house. I was just hoping for a great seal manufacturer on-line where I could see exactly what I have.
