Metal garage, no insulation

My dad has an 18x31 metal building with no insulation. It desperately needs some sort of venting! What is the most cost effective way of venting this out? I'd like to keep it under $500. Don't mind cutting the metal to install a fan system. Is it possible to get a good fan on a thermostat for that price? Plus a vented door on the opposite end? Please help, it's a sauna in there! (Central Florida).

Gable vents? Maybe even two powered ones, one pusher and the other a puller?

Even a shop fan or drum fan moving a lot of air would be helpful. Keeping the air moving should help.

Will two gable vents to high do much to the temps at 6ft and below? Would it be better to have a powered vent up high and an intake low on the other side?

Any advice on a good one? He is using box fans right now, but they aren't doing much.

Any intakes whether for convective flow or powered outflow should be low as possible.

Ideally position output fan(s) and intake(s) on the two opposite ends so you are between them .

Depending on your needs, non powered convection works for free $ 24/7, then when you are IN there, run the exhaust fan(s).

AND also a portable fan to blow on yourself.

I always thought you needed to vent the heat that is building up high? Either way, how much airflow is needed for 550sqft? 18' peak I think.

The exact answer to that is somewhat a guessing game due to too much too consider.

Although, there are tables showing square inch cross sectional areas recommended for convective flow per attic volume on the net.

In your case, apparently you will not be AC'ing.

So, step by step =- I would make SURE soffit venting does not get blocked... Then do the calculation to see if your gable vents are sufficient... Then install a 24" or larger exhaust fan from the Link I gave you on the "Back" of the building as high as possible under your ceiling...... and arrange for suitable intake opening... could be an in wall vent down low, or could be simple as opening door or window if you are in building.

Thanks for all the info. There is no attic here. It's open all the way up to the roof. No soffit and no venting of any kind right now. Roll up door on one end and a man for on the opposite wall with one small window on a third side.

I'll look into the 24" fans. This is going to be a gift for him, so I want something useful. A mini split may be an option down the road, but it's pretty low on the priority list.
