I finished up a metals rack a couple months ago. Hope you guys enjoy it.
Its 36" wide, 30" deep, and about 7 feet tall. The local metal store hooked me up with $75 of angle iron and I got to work cutting and pasting.
I cut up some birch 3/4" plywood and routed grooves in them to prevent stock from rolling around. Finished with boiled linseed oil...
Here it is, primed, painted and assembled. A coworker donated the locking casters.
Finally, I loaded all my **** on it. Long stock leans on the front, and I have sheet stock in the compartment on the back. The middle shelves are for drops smaller than 24 inches or so. There are also two milk cartons on the bottom shelf, which I am thinking will be filled up with non-usable drops - to bring to the recycler.
The left side holds white cardboard tubes - I store TIG filler rod in there. I have some deadspace up top, might put some hooks or pegboard up there for clamps or extension cords. not sure yet. Suggestions?
Here is a look at the back, where the sheet is stacked.
I also installed a chain across the front to prevent accidents when the car is parked in here. Ive been using it for a few months now and seems to be working well!
