I am looking to break ground on the "shop" soon and the supplier I had been seeing has gone bankrupt. The Menards nearby wants to be my supplier, but they lean to metal roofs. I'm between Flint and Saginaw, Mich. and we have winter here. Every metal roof building I've been in has condensation. I don't want to put my stuff in a building so the building can rain on it! Menards says to cover my trusses with foam insulation and metal over that will let the foam catch the condensate and run out the eves. This seems like planned leaking. I have shingled more than a few houses and planned to shingle my barn. Any advice on shingles Vs. metal roofing

I'm using a radiant/moisture barrier. I think the idea is to keep the warm air away from the metal and it won't condensate. Between the snow load and weight of shingles it will cost more using shingles, more trusses, heavier sheating, larger posts. If I was doing a smaller building I would shingle(20x20 or so)
