Do what?

If you're talking about the width, and using 36" wide sheets, you cut a sheet to 2/3 width and that is your last panel...

Rip 1 ft off a sheet?

Depends on the trim and panel style you are doing. May have to hem an edge, turn it up or do nothing.

More details for the panel type might help

Yes, I can do math.

I can also do roofing panels.

Please explain to me how you are going to cheat 4" per panel. Are you saying to overlap each panel an extra 4"?
Agree. This would only work on a single repeating panel like this one. still not worth the effort. On normal higher gauge roofing take off one panel or if you are OCD take half off each side. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Union-Corrugating-2-16-ft-x-8-ft-Corrugated-Metal-Roof-Panel/3317582

OP don't forget about your overhang plus trim. I think i put my zip like 6 inches over as i had different trim to put up. better to have extra and trim down.

it would be nice if i could get them to move the outer crimp, six inches in on each side and then use that for center panel. i want me some rollers to make my own panels

What kind of panels have crimps? All mine were just a nice cut edge.

Get panels that fit? Not sure what the issue is.

They make all sorts of widths.

Six pieces of 5 rib will cover 18’,the seventh piece gets cheated over 2 ribs to cover the last 2’.Put your gable end flashing on and you are done.
And if that doesn't work freaking chalk a line and cut it with a 4 1/2-in angle grinder. I can't believe anyone would such a big deal about this...

Do a search on "gable end flashing for metal roof". Once you have an idea of what the flashing looks like and how it works, then you will see that you just cut off the extra width of the last panel in such a way that it fits under the flashing. Or center the panels and trim a smaller amount off each one. If your panel does not have a rib in the right spot to tuck up under the gable flashing, then just fold up the edge of the panel so it provides the proper water runoff protection. It is best to do some planning in advance and choose panels that work well width the width of your roof.

The gable trim arches over the ribs to make things work If the proper measurements were done beforehand.
One thing I tell people who ask me about installing most materials, especially sheet type materials, is that if you install the first piece before measuring things and making a cut, is that most likely you are screwing up. People want that instant gratification that comes with slapping that first piece on, then find out later that cutting the first piece would have made things work out as far as joints, trim, centering, etc.

what if i started centerline of dead center, i know where that is when i squared the roof. and then went center of first panel, screw it down then work out, on last piece i could pencil under and cut line, then add a trim angle on edge
