I just used some of that white wire Home Depot stuff in my garage. I bought the 16" wide stuff. I think it came in 12 foot lengths. I used hooks and chain from the ceiling for a single shelf about 16" below the ceiling. Then I used a few of the regular mounting clips to hold the shelf against the wall and keep it from swinging. I had a shelf in my closet come down when I loaded it with too many magazines. The thing that failed was the clips in the back. Then the shelf pivoted forward on the angle supports that go to the front edge. I felt like the chain approach would be stonger, and it looks fine for garage use, IMHO.
