Hello everyone! It has been a long time since my last post.
I moved back mass last year and I am trying to re-establish my "store" list.

I need to find some metal for a project. Would like to get some aluminum but refuse to buy from Big Box because of the ridiculous mark up..

Anyone know of a metal shop near Chelmsford MA?

Any help would be FANTASTIC

Ive been wanting to go to the Metal Supermarket in Woburn for awhile, ive never been in one of those stores...im sure what im imaging is probabbly different than in real life. i've also used Grant steel in Holbrook, although its not too close to Chelmsford. No minimum orders but they are catered more towards manufacturing

With a name like Metal Supermarkets I fully expected to have a massive shopping cart and would be pulling metal off store shelves.

Not the case. There's a front counter and you place your order, then someone goes into the warehouse and cuts your metal for you.

Wait you moved From NC back to MASS ?? :{ I do hope it was worth the aggravation. There was a place called Central Steel in Cambridge long ago I believe they moved to Marlborough a google or two might tell you . I dealt with them in the late 80s Lol :)

I used to go to a steel yard to buy billet. I now order a lot of what I need on speedymetals.com. It's just easier, since they actually have the stock sizes I need and cut to length. onlinemetals.com is reputed to be good, too, although I haven't tried them personally. If it's not a huge project, I would go this route.

I've used online metals. Pleasant experience. Was making aluminum flagpoles for our color guard and it was cheaper to buy and ship across the country than to buy local. Not nickels and dimes either.

I actually forgot to update my profile a long time ago. I move from North Carolina -> Kansas City -> and now back to Mass. Yes it was worth the aggravation. Kansas City had a great shop called Metal by the Foot... Fantastic arrangement. Open saturday AM...
