Has anyone on here used any sheet metal type wall covering in their garage for fire protection against sparks and such? I know some on here have diamond plate but I think that is more for aesthetic reasons? Diamond plate would certainly look good but I'm open to all suggestions.

The reason I ask is, I want to section off on area of my pole barn for grinding, cutting, welding, etc. I thought three walls covered with diamond plate or sheet metal and then a portable welding curtain to form the fourth wall in turn separating the room from the remainder of the barn.

I apologize if this has been covered. I figured I would throw out the question before I went shopping as there is always someone on here with ideas. Thanks.

use thin gauge sheet metal? probably be better if you use some sort of clear curtain in case the wall catch fire, that way you can see it.

I covered the wall around my fold-down welding table with inexpensive aluminum flashing. I wasn't looking for it to look especially good -- but I painted it the same color as the plywood walls, and it blends in fine.

Here it is while I was putting it together. I used ordinary roofing nails and some liquid nails adhesive to attach it.

Here it is finished. You can see I put the flashing behind it as well, then put in hooks to hold clamps.

Ventilation up above, too.
