Hi all,

As part of the (attached) garage build I'm upgrading my electric service from 100A to 200A, and redoing the siding on the house so that the garage & house siding match.

I'm currently figuring out the meter box install. Not so much the electrical part of it, I've got that covered, but how to physically place it (over the siding, behind siding). Since I've got a clean slate to work with I've determined that the best solution is a meter base j-block (e.g. http://mastic.plygem.com/wps/portal... Blocks&product_name=Large Meter Base J-Block )

Unfortunately, I can't find this anywhere for sale.. I've found one on amazon, but it's too small, I need a minimum 19"x10" surface ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000DZBGEG/?tag=atomicindus08-20 )

I must say I'm very surprised this is so hard to find, every single house has a meter box, this should be a common problem, with a common solution. A quick walk around the neighborhood shows a bunch of different 'solutions' as to how the meter box is installed, and in my opinion, they're all awful. I don't think any install I've seen around here (CT) can really guarantee no water ingress.

So.. any ideas how to best do this? A mount block with nailing flanges and integrated j-channel would be sweet, if I could find it in the right size/color.

I screwed a large piece of 3/4 plywood onto the house. Then covered it with aluminum coil stock, and wrapped with j-channel. It is large enough for the meter box and cable tv entrance.

What do people do for the combo meter base /service panel? They are 35+ inches in length. I’ve never seen a jblock that big.
