First of all let me say THANK YOU, to every on this site for all the help and knowledge posted in everyone's forums! I have recently built a ridgid frame building and I am now to the point of electrical service install. Is anyone willing to post some pictures of their meter base mounting and explain how you anchored it to the building? I just don't feel like self tappers into the tin is very secure and plywood with insulation in between would tear the insulation. Just looking for options. Thanks everyone in advance!

I have not gotten pics of my building yet but I want to setup my meter base exactly like this one pictured. I don't have access to the inside of this building to see how it was anchored. It looks like it was just mounted with self tapping screw directly to the tin??9ed36661715467f8c738ff293feeaa21.jpg

If you look the mid strut is probably screwed into a sidewall girt and the top one is screwed into a rafter. They may have blocking behind the metal on the ones that don't line up with the rows of screws you can see.

You would not want to screw it to the typical 29 Gauge tin used on pole buildings. Bolting would be ok directly to the tin for some of the supports but you'll want at least a couple more supports that engage framing members.

Locate the meter so it can be screwed to a girt. Anywhere else will pull out eventually.

You wouldn't want to use self tappers for that thin steel a pointed screw would hold much better.

I used self tappers, but the meter base is also tethered through the back to the panel directly inside the shop.
