Meter base setting with ribbed metal siding?

As any of you know metal siding has ribs that protrude out 3/4".

I have 2 options, set the box on the plywood, and run J Channel. Or, put the siding on and then set the box over it.

I prefer the second option for the simple fact that water tends to get behind J channel. So if the box is spaced out (ribs as spacers)


Do I need to run conduit through the plywood into the base box? Or can I just shoot them through the wall, and sprayfoam around them and call it good?

I'd use a long chase ****** to protect the wires. They are going through the metal even though you have plywood there.

OK, so a chase ****** out the back, through the siding and plywood. Will it need to extend into the breaker or disconnect panel as well? Or once through the wall I am good?

That should work good, and then a bead of silicone around it, and I am sealed.

Sorry, that's what they are called. There is a 'close' ****** but it isn't long enough to go through what you have.

AFA ending the connection you have to have an approved connection on the entrance to the inside panel. If they are back to back, I'd run short conduit. If not, and the wall is covered inside, you can run romex between. If you can't get romex in your required wire size, you need to place your wires in a conduit between those 2 boxes.

They do make siding boxes for meters. But you don't need a ****** if you don't want to and you are using Seu. Because you will have a 2 inch Seu connector that would resess beyond the siding,plus the hole you cut would be big enough for the connector to fit into,otherwise your panel wouldn't gol flat. You could do ****** if your going back to back or have the room and then use separate conductors

Mustang, that's a good option if the wire size to the inside panel is bigger than #10. I'd just make sure water can't follow it either way.
