Meth and Tools..a bad combination.

I got to help a friend clean out 2 apartments that had been evictions, one guy had left these behind. Said gentleman has a meth problem and couldn't afford rent. Shocking to me, as I'd never do that to a ratchet...ever.

The Kennedy CS-19 looks worse than it is, no significant metal loss, but plenty of dents and dings.

The Wright 4400 1/2 ratchet is seized up and has a decent amount of rust. It's currently soaking in pb blaster. Even if I can rebuild her, she won't be pretty.

Dumpster in pic is not literal dumpster they were saved from...lol.

There is a period between when they steal them, when they pawn them, and when they steal more.
Hence no real reason to care for them.

Seems likely. Looks like the kind of junk you sometimes find on trash day where the basements flood more often then they get cleaned out.

You know, they make a commercial cold-galvanizing coating in a spray can like spray paint. It's like 93% pure zinc when it dries. Can't attest to the wear qualities on tools, though I have used it on rusted evap coolers. If your ratchet can be made serviceable, you might try the stuff. Couldn't do any harm.

Bonneyman, thank you. I'll look into it when/if I can get the a Wright apart. The guy that had these was the landlord's ex property mgr, I'm assuming he had other tools and thought these too far gone.
