Trying to find a decent metric drill bit set that won't break the bank. Want to know if anyone has had a good experience with something besides Chicago Latrobe, or tool truck sets. The metrics seem to be a bit harder to find. Seen a couple sets on Amazon with bad reviews.
Anyone have any experience with ctd bits?

Mike528,

CTD or Consolidated Toledo Drill is actually Norseman. They manufacture excellent drill bits. The set in your e-Bay ad are for drilling thru metal once you take the precautions of center punching the material and using drill lubricant (purchase via e-bay or thru an industrial tool supply store).

Here is more information about this specific drill bit set on Amazon and eBay (view pic #3 in the ad): Amazon and eBay.

I'm as metric only as anybody I know, but I have no trouble with sets of drills that go up by 64ths as well as letter and number sets. And a drill chart on the wall with metric equivalents and drill sizes for tapping.

I have a set of Cleveland twist drill made in the USA. They come in a Huot drill index. I purchased them from MSC when they had a 30% off sale. Very high quality. About $100 or so.
