This was another reason for my question, I assume someone would have a set in a mid range price/performance point if it was really going to be needed. You know Irwin, Dewalt, both brands that sell taps & dies so even if they are not great I was expecting a set from either or both.

I have been watching the sale flyers for Travers, MSC/Enco and I think one or two others. That is where I expect to see a discount set.
Figuring that outside of US metric is standard and with all the imports you would figure a cheap set would make it in.

But here is a question if your dimensioning a milling job in metric is best to use metric tooling?

As any general question it depends on many factors.
Depends on the kind of milling machine you have. But in general, yes for the holes. You want metric drills and reamers. If a critical radius is dimensioned metric you may want the metric end mill. For Linear dimensions, not so important.

If it is a CBC, it's all just G code anyways, easy enough to manually write it up for most jobs. Otherwise it's MasterCam which also doesn't care.

Manual machines it sometimes helps using the same standard of measurement for tooling and workpiece if only because it makes your offsets mentally easier to do. Assuming you have both measurement dials on the machine or a decent DRO.

A few sizes of holes (not threaded now and wont need to tap later) for a project I am looking to start are not in many sets, found this 'set' and looks like a decent investment. Even if not, I decided to treat myself it's nice to have good drills.

'set'

I probably will wait for a sale at zoro or msc to hit my inbox to get a 1-13 set in 0.5
