I need a metric midlegth socket set,
Which brand would be better Matco SBIM126T
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/SBIM126T/3-8-12-PC-MM-MID-LGTH-CHR/
or Snap On 212FSMSY ?
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...7&group_ID=246&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
I would bought the snap ons, but the snap on only shows up every 2 weeks,
that if were are lucky, He has not been to the shop in for a while.(Like a month)
Matco shows up every week, so I might buy from Matco.
I miss the Snap On man when I worked at the dealer....

key to keeping a tool guy coming back is to owe him money :) pay 20 a week and stretch it out.

really-- what ever suits your needs. i personally have no matco or mac dealer anymore. most of my stuff is snappy or cornwell.

Three reasons to go with the Matco set.

1. The Matco guy is the only one who consistently shows up.

2. The Matco set is just as good as the Snappy.

3. The Matco set is cheaper.

Mac used to also for pretty cheap but there website is the biggest *************. Im sure either one will be nice, i havent had any matco experience so i cant speak on that. Id probably go with the matco for all 3 reasons listed considering i reached for mine only in situations where nothing else would work so it would make more sense to go the cost effective route.Mine came in handy alot especially during my toyota days. Good luck

I agree with 85Camaro. Support the guy who supports you and the Matco sockets are great tools. I own both brands and neither has an advantage over the other, so yes support the Matco guy

i find the matco guy much more willing to deal in my area to get a sale. matco sockets are good sockets. the set is cheaper retail as well and you are getting better service currently. ask for 20% off see if he bites

I've got that Matco set and it is awesome. Bought them from a fellow member on here I believe. The only issue I've had is a lot of chrome flaking for some reason. But that's warrantable. Also a plus is the high visibility blue laser etched size. I've had a couple of those that are wearing away, but that's also covered under warranty (not that there's any point in warrantying a socket just for that. IMO)

i'm sure the koken's are nice - i've got a set of their universals that are every bit as good as any of the trucks.

but the nepros NTB3M12A http://www.nepros.net/?p=2a&s=16&t=0&tt=ToolSet are the best chrome sockets i've ever seen. i've only had mine for about a year, but the finish is amazing and they've stood up to some tough love (although i never use an impact w/chrome). can't recommend them highly enough.

I absolutely DETEST Danaher, so it would be easy for me. (They have single handedly destroyed USA Craftsman)

I've got that set in SO impact, they're great.

Just my $0.02, REALLY not trying to start something. Good luck!:beer:

This what I did with small purchase like special tools which I pay a week to keep them coming because I has been work hard and stress a lot of tools..

I had compare the mid length socket from all different tool trucks, it is all difference of length but some has thick wall and other has thin.. It is vary..

Did danaher do that? OR did apex do that?

Important question for you to answer since matco is not part of Apex...

I will consider them if they make an equivalent SAE set. Do they?

As a SK user for many years, I never even realized half of my "deeps" were really semi-deep. Now that I have realized it, I am desiring "complete" sets of similar length. Also with fully broached interiors...

nope - only recently has nepros really made any attempt to reach US tool buyers (ie they have a website you can easily order from), and that effort hasn't included making more SAE stuff. they are also not deep broach.

I disagree. Danaher makes some great tools but, that's just me.

There's plenty of finger pointing available for Craftsman ills.
Warranty fraud, purchasers wanting pennies on the piece pricing, corporate greed, epa rules, Harbor Freight competition, the chinafication of formerly US tool brands by Apex tool group, etc.

But back to the question at hand, I would opt for the matco set. I own the 1/4 and 3/8 drive sets. They are finished well inside and out. I like the high vis size markings. I also got good service from my Matco dealer.

I have the Snap On sockets, and they are great. Been using them for over 8 years with no issues. However I have seen the Matco's and they also look like a quality item. Given the Matcos are cheaper and you have better service from them I would go in that direction.

I bought the Snap on 1/4 drive metric set because it was on "sale" at the time. When I needed a 3/8 drive socket I grabbed a craftsman and chucked it in the lathe. That deep broaching comes in handy for something. Eventually I grab a whole set of deeps on sale for $20 and make myself a whole set. :lol_hitti

Snap-On deeps aren't fully broached. May deeps have shorter lengths when you get down to 10 or 8 mm in 3/8". I agree that I don't like it, but there's always something not to like about every socket manufacturer.
