Thanks.

Soooooo like ya mean if you happened to toss in a SAE tool, it'd spit it out into your nuts or tase you or something else even more dastardly like maybe melt them or how about digest them and **** out harbor freight screw drivers??. :lol_hitti

Are there people who are still metricphobic?? Why??

Both at home and at work I pretty much use metric and sae universally. About every other machine at work is metric, the others are sae, and some are mixed. At home my vehicles are a mix, I own a Toyota, Ford, Dodge, and Harley, plus all my lawn equipment etc that can be either one.

I got over the separation a long time ago.

Mine.

I have one drawer at the bottom of one box, the ghetto where all the useless inch **** gets tossed. It only gets opened when I have a lawn mower, Harley, or other farm machinery to deal with.

When I was just a kid I remember my dad telling me what metric was and what drawer those ones were in, I was like "ah, now these ones make sense"..

Dad prolly turned more whitworth in his day than metric...

I guess i buck the trend here. Only metric tool in my work box is a 1.5mm allen key. Everything else is SAE. In my home box I have a hand full of metric stuff for my car.

Other then my Oxygen and oil pressure sensor sockets, I don't have any SAE tooling in my box.

And I work at a Chrysler dealership.

I know a mechanic that has a red snapon classic for sae and a black for metric, both the same boxes, setup the same way, the only differences in the setups is the colors and one has a drawer for pliers and a drawer for air tools while the other has a drawer for screw drivers and a drawer for electric tools and box sets..... I was always impressed by it...

Nope, I'm with you. Not a single solitary metric implement in my entire box, except for maybe a couple metric ratchets, screwdrivers, prybars, punches drifts, but that's it.

Now how are kids supposed to learn fractions if all they have are metric tools?

Fractions are dead.

Plus schools up here have been teaching fractions to little kids for decades without the ability to reference the imperial system of measurement.

That's my style. I just need more real estate. lol.

But I do have mine in separate drawers. Found it fit best and was quicker for me. (Vidmar cabinets.)

Not here in America. The government has been trying to sell us on the metric system for decades. With American manufacturing showing some promising signs of life, I can see another roadblock for metric implementation. The cultural influence of America is stronger than ever. I understand even the British are adopting Americanisms. Who knows, perhaps that could translate into a reversion to the Imperial system. Up in Canada, you fellas still can wrap yourselves around the English system.

I, for one, prefer SAE/English/Imperial. The metric system stinks of cheese and cigarettes.

Oh yeah...definitely a separate box for metrics.....you can't let SAE and metric touch....it would cause a rift in the tool organization continuum...!!!:eyecrazy:

American manufacturing showing signs of life?? That's why everything at at your nations largest retailer is made in China? Or Kazakhstan? Get real man. It's cheaper to produce everything in third world countries. So the only time Americas going to be a manufacturing giant again is when your living in a third world country.

And do Americans not like cheese or cigarettes, In fact Americans smoke more cigarettes per adult per year than the French So if your gonna be racist, please at least pick something correct and applicable

I always dreamed about something like that, just a step further. All the sae tools will be American or Canadian made. The metric tools all will be European or Japanese made.

Total, "win the lottery" dream as I am too cheap to even buy a decent domestic ratchet for work.

Yeah, you're in good company here.

Besides 'merica, the only two countries that have not adopted the metric system are Liberia and Burma....

Serious question. Why do people type 'merica when America is the same number of characters?

To the OP. I keep my metric and SAE in different boxes since putting them in the same box would result in matter anti-matter annihilation.

Technically, Cato was being nationalist, not racist.

To be fair, parts of America seem like a third-world country.

It's a Internet meme and can have a negative connotations associated with it. If a non American is saying it, they've likely meant it in the derogatory sense. An American might say it with pride or as a criticism of the culture and society they live in. Context will determine its intended use.

I keep metric and sae in defferant drawers/ draws (lol) to stop mixed breading. Just my 2 cents worth.
