Metric vs. SAE standard tool usage?

I have noticed SAE wrenches are becoming more difficult to find @ harbor freight in the ICON brand. Just my extremely limited experience.

It seems in the US, older American automobiles made before the year 2000, industrial / plant and electrical applications are still largely SAE.

GM went Metric in '78, but they kept standard on engines and parts that were already designed.

For me I'd be all metric as the daily's are both Toyota and the kid's have a Honda and a Toyota, but it's my 82 Corvette that I end up needed some SAE for.

Well you'll always need SAE for home and garden stuff.

You’re right, I did not think of that. For home improvement, garden use (lawn mower, tractor, etc) it is still SAE for most of this. Good post. Thanks for the reminder.
