For a number of different reasons, I've made little progress. Nonetheless here's what I've managed to do:
Installed a few cans which still need to be wired.

I also cut my stair stringers. Here's the first laid out in its approximate location-

Here are all three temporarily held together and ready to be installed on the landing I've yet to build.

Slow progress is still progress. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Once I get through the next few weeks of garden prep and vehicle maintenance I should be able to make some headway. Plans still include:
1. Compete sheathing.
2. Build landing then attach and complete stairs
3. Determine a way to improve the look. I am considering galvanized metal roofing wainscoting and chair rail for lower with paint on the upper. I think I'll call around to see what I can find in scrap or at a Habitat Restore.
4. Complete wiring lights and receptacles.
5. Move in - tools and supplies
6. Build and install stair hand rail and loft safety railing.

If you're looking for inspiration for #3 on your list, I love this - check it out...

That's from Aussie Mike's "Aussie Barn Build" thread (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163567).

Your wall height lends itself well to "upper storage solutions" - have you considered continuing with a (true) mezzanine along that side?

Thanks you for the image and thread as that is a nice concept. Interestingly I'm considering something similar, but reversed. I'm torn because I want it to look nice, but I'm not willing to spend much to make it REALLY nice.

I've considered it and was going to have about a 6' depth along. The entire back wall. Once I was able to for all of the car parts up top, I reconsidered and decided the single room will suffice. It all really depends on the space usability moving forward. If my needs are met I doubt I'll build anything additional.
