MG725 locked up?

I have used had a MG725 for approx. 6 months, it is used daily( what i would consider light use and oiled) but not constantly. Yesterday the gun impacted 2 or 3 times and then locked up. The impact will try to turn you hand, it does the same thing forward or reverse. I am becoming a very unhappy camper, last month i bought a new PH3050 and all it would do was leak air around the built in regulator, last november I bought a 3/8 techangle torque wrench only to find the battery cap was cross threaded and had cracked the housing. This would cause the batteries to loose contact and shut the wrench off.
Is anyone else having these types of troubles with Snap on quality control?
I many have to stop drinking the koolaid.
My dealer did replace the air hammer right away but the torque wrench was sent away and the imact is still in the my box as i wont see my dealer for another week.

only mg725s i had that locked up were due to water damage and i sent these to powertools and not to the repair center so the diagnosis was very accurate.
also some types of marvel mystery oil have torn up air tools in the past.

Thanks for the response Mr Shaun, my air line is pretty dry and I only use Napa brand air tool oil in all my tools. My Xt7100 nor my 8 year MG31 haven't shown any issues and they are much older. I will be sending the Mg725 in for a rebuid. Maybe just a run of bad luck.

The only problem I have had with a SO air tool was when a bb from the air coupler came out and ot sucked into the gun. My SO gave me great trade in on it for a new 725 and the gun has treated me well. It don't get used much once I switched to cordless.

Really, not to disrail this thread, but I've used Marvel mystery oil for decades, no problems, but I don't want any either, what does it do, eat/wreck seals?

Marvel oil is a cleaner, remove sludge and frees up sticking lifters.

It's not really a lube.

there was a special edition oil that really ate through seals. Most of the guys in this area do not use marvel.

I've worked with guys in the past that were almost cult like, in their worship of Marvel Mystery Oil as an ail tool lubricant, and just about everything else.

Stuff like, "That dog's got the mange, get the Marvel Mystery Oil!"

And creepy things like, "I've got bumps on my pee pee, get the Marvel Mystery Oil!"

I'll pass. When I first started out wrenching at the dealership, the old automatic transmission guy told me to use ATF as a lube for my new CP734. I still like plain old ATF for air tools. It costs next to nothing and has served me well for since the 1970's.

And for a ticking lifter I used GM's EOS, not MMO.

A coworker and myself just got our mg725s back from being rebuilt. I had mine for 2 years and it was a week away from being out of warranty. I was trying to break some backing plate bolts loose on a hyster forklift (torque spec is 180 ft/lb with nord lock washers). After a handfull of 5-10 second bursts, it quit working a just passed air through and out the exhaust. I borrowed my coworkers and it did the same thing after only a few bursts (his was about a year old).

It was a little disappointing. After getting it back it seems good, but there were no signs of failure up until it just quit. It doesnt feel any stronger after the rebuild than it did before. I always used snap on air tool oil. If it happens again it will be byebye. Maybe an IR cordless...

Another guy in the shop had his just lock up. The snap on guy traded him out for the "newer" version as he said.

I have seen a lot of these go out for repairs, both in my shop and on the truck, also the 3/8 version. I really like S/O, but I think I will stick with IR for my air guns. That said, my S/O 3/8 and 1/4 drive air ratchets are awesome, and have been for many years.

I thought I would try the MG725 again today just for fun. Hoping maybe the fixit elves stopped by my toolbox overnight, the gun will free spin with no load just like a new one, I removed 2 front strut spindle nuts with it and went to the other side of the car guess what 2 or 3 impacts and the gun tried to spin in my hand.
Hopefully the rebuild lasts longer than the original.
