Q: Where to buy 2-2-2-4 MHF ?

I'm coming up zero here, it must not be popular for whatever reason; maybe due to the lack of outbuildings? IDK.

Anyway, I need a 175' run of 2-2-2-4 AL USE MHF Service Entry Cable.

1. Lowes does not have, does not carry it, have no idea what I'm talking about.
2. HD sells a 500' roll thru their website. The local stores have no idea what I'm talking about. Customer support says I'm out of luck.
3. I tried 2 elect supply houses, they do not carry it and seemed annoyed.
I'm probably 1000 miles from a Menards unfortunately. They sell in store only for this.

Is there an online supply house that carries this? Down here there are very few DIY'ers as most people have 'people' to call, so there isn't many options on almost everything. Amazon has become a good friend.

Thanks in advance for suggestions

The typical shop stuff. not heavy much on 240 (5hp compressor, 180 Mig), but heavier on 120 with car lift, saws, lights, fans, room to grow...And with a long run I'd have concerns with the reduced neutral and 120 heavy

Yeah thats why i asked. However, if u balanced the loads, you will probably be fine. The neutral will only be carrying the imbalance between the legs...#4 AL is good for 65a...

Is the cable going to be placed in conduit or are you looking at direct bury only? If in conduit you have other options for wire to use.

2" conduit all the way due to all the coral rock in the soil.
I'd use URD (available online @HD) but it will enter the shop to the new panel: about 6' inside.

You can use single wires of aluminum THHN/THHW-2 or XHHW-2 or RHH/RHW-2. An electrical supply should have one or the other of those.

The HD store SKU for a 500 ft roll is 462-762. by the foot it used to be 462-714 but doing searches, I cannot turn up that number any more.

Pic is right at two years old.

I noticed an ebay dealer that sells a lot of URD/USE2 wire, is that what you bought?

Problem solved, I shot the ebay dealer an email asking about his URD ratings. He replied that the URD listed is not internal structure rated, but he carries MHF no problem.

Ordered 175' MHF @ $1.84/ft for reference.

Nassau National Cable in NY

Thanks all for your inputs

What is "URD" rating that disallows "entering the building"?

Typical URD (Underground Residential Distribution) cable only carries a USE-2 insulation rating and the NEC forbids USE-2 only rated cable from being installed inside of the structure. USE-2 insulation is not fire resistant.

lowes site says "This item is no longer available on Lowes.com. " (Cerro Wire 2-2-2-4 Aluminum Mobile Home Feeder Service Entrance Cable)

It's a **** shoot if your Lowes carries this - or not.
I got the deer in the headlights look when I went around to two stores here asking; I ordered from Nassau Cable and rx'd quick.
