Hello everyone,

I spend quite a bit of time on the H.A.M.B. answering questions about Quick Change rear ends. But, I have a soft spot for old tools and equipment. Also like to fabricate special tools.

Have a Bridgeport and a South Bend lathe, 16" with an 8' bed.

I worked as an Auto shop teacher for 15 years with a 22 year sabbatical in the middle designing and later selling Snap-on Tools.

Really looking to organize my shop. It is a 32' X 48' barn, 2 story with a paint booth on the upper floor. Can't put a whole car in there, (on purpose).

Never really got the hang of keeping stuff neat and tidy but I'm workin' on it.

G'day and welcome to the GJ Gearhead 1 sounds like a great assortment of gear you have.

IMHO focus on the neat and tidy as you will be amazed at the little things that make a huge difference.

Enjoy.

Gearhead: if you want to post questions it's always good to have a location under your name which you can put city/state or some location that let's us know what part of the world you are in when you are not in your intro thread. also while you are in your GJ profile you can click on Avitar and download a picture that will also show up under your new Gearhead handle. you can change the Avitar as often as you like or just keep the same if you have a favorite one.

good luck on the organization and ask questions if you have any and we'll try to help if we can

Hey Gearhead! Welcome to the GJ! I am in Michigan also. Live in Byron and work at the Milford Proving Grounds. Your mention of QC's perked my interest as I am in the market for one for a model A build I am gathering parts for.
Interested in any info, parts or complete units you may have.
Thanks!

Thanx, for the tips. I haven't decided on an Avatar yet. Will update my profile shortly.

Tell me more about the Model A build. The lighter weight units are not my specialty, but if you're going to put some horsepower thru it, I can definitely help.

Not looking to build a fire breather but the build style is going to be tube framed, low, with Pro Street style tires and wheels. The QC would look great under there. I am looking into a 331 Caddy motor to make it go.
I do most of my design work in 3D CAD. The chassis is fairly well fleshed out with some work yet to be done on the body. Here are a couple of screen shots of the design as it stands currently.

Hey Joe,

You drive right by my house on Davisburg road. Guess which one is mine! When I get rid of some of the clutter, I'll invite you to stop by.

Bruce

Bruce,

There are several nice garages along the stretch I drive but the only one that seems like it would have a full upstairs (enough for a paint booth) is a light blue one on the north side of the road? Am I close? If so, great place!!

Welcome Bruce, I'm over by Lapeer. I do car shows a few times a year in Davisburg. Your road is what cruising is all about. Twist and turns with a lot of scenery. Welcome to the Garage Journal.

Howdy Bruce. I grew up not to far from you in Hooterville (Ortonville) and the parents (wife and mine) still live there. Don't worry about how messy the garage is, these guys have some great ideas that can help a ton.
