has anyone here ever tried running line around a buried water tank and through the infloor heat system. i have access to excavators so the only cost i could see would be the pump, tank and line. it should also cool you down a little in the summer wouldn't it. i'm not talking trying to rely on this system only but to have overhead radiant as well. if the overhead heater was keeping the temp around 15 c i guess the floor would actually be sucking heat out?

just thinking out loud!!:headscrat

you can also put PEX tubing into the water tank for the temp transfer

if you can do the excavation the GS system becomes cheap
one thing is that the deeper the better

i don't know what the difference would be if i was to hook up a boiler or hot water tank, i would only want the floor at a constant 50 degrees and i believe the ground around here is 40- 45 degrees.
this will be in my 30x44 shop and i live in the north, to keep this thing at room temperature all the time would be pricey, i plan on running a furnace for secondary heat when i'm actually working in it.
