These towels are only good for cleaning..... DO NOT USE ON AUTOMOBILE PAINT!
Check out www.theragcompany.com for detailing towels.

BTW! Thanks OP!..... These are a good deal at this price! These are basically "throw away" utility/general purpose towels at a very good price.

What do you look for to determine if a microfiber cloth is good enough to use on the paint?

I am a huge fan of the 16x16 EAGLE EDGELESS and the 16x16 EVEREST...... Look at the GSM (Grams per Square Meter) and the higher number means it is softer so it will be better for your paint.
Rag Company has pro microfiber at excellent prices and his customer service is is great..... Call them and ask what specials he has going on and ask what he recommends for your application.

Actually just bought ten of the 15-packs, solely for garage surface and floor cleaning.

To go along with my 300+ Rag Company detailing specific towels.

No need to mess up $3+/each microfibers for garage cleaning!

The easiest test is if the towel grabs and holds on to things like leaves they are not safe for paint. Look at the materiel make up on the tag, you ideally want 25 to 30% polyamide. Korean made towels are almost always better.

The best test that I have heard is if you rub the towel on the back of a CD and if the towel causes scratches on a new CD then it will scratch paint.

On top of GSM, make and COO (if they don't tell/show you these, I'd avoid them) there's also cost. *MOST* of the time you get what you pay for. Also, quality towels don't come in prepackaged 15 packs.

These no doubt are of the same quality from HF, they do have a place and are a pretty good price.
