Thanks. I haven't tried out any Adams products, but have heard great things. I've been on a big CarPro binge lately. A bit off topic, but I just got a foam cannon and am looking for a great shampoo that won't add or strip. I was thinking about ordering some Chemical Guys, but does Adams have anything that fits this niche?

Our Car Wash Shampoo works great in a bucket, on a wash pad, on a wash mitt, in a foam gun, in a foam cannon....you get the drift. It's pH neutral, so it covers your requirements as well.

We don't see the need to have a dozen "different" soaps. Ours works great everywhere. ;)

Glad I found this thread. While I did not jump on this particular deal, this thread contains tons of good info on other places to buy quality microfiber products. I'm a huge autogeek fan and like others, I like the cobra guzzlers as well...but I am going to have to look into that Korean waffle from microfibertech as that looks pretty and at a decent price.

There are people here with very different definitions of "scratches" as well as very different acceptable levels of paint appearance.

If you're a guy that washes his car/truck once every 6 months with some dish detergent and whatever shop rag is handy, these towels are not for you.

Honestly, what's the big deal on the microfiber? What am I missing?
WoD

The main benefits are high absorbancy, soft enough so as to not scratch the surface of whatever you're wiping, as well as being good at picking up contaminants and holding them in the fibers deep enough that they aren't being drug across the surface making more scratches (why not to use a chamois). They're also pretty durable if they are of decent quality. When I say scratches here, I'm referring to "micro-scratches", the light swirling that you can see in your paint when you look at it with the light at the right angle. These dull the appearance of the car (depth, clarity, etc) even if they don't go past the clearcoat and cant' be seen at all angles.

And as someone noted, there is a wide range of quality.

I suppose if these were snap on towels they would go over better...

I have a white car so its hard to see scratches, but my blue harley shows them easily. Its like the clear coat on that thing is made from saran wrap. Will these higher gsm towels really not scratch the clear up? And what do you guys wash the car with (mitt, rag, sponge) to keep from introducing new scratches? This thread has intrigued me. I cant see the scratches on the white car, but on my bike they drive me nuts. Might be time to buy a few if they really are that good.

Clear coat damage comes from two main sources; cheap, inferior towels and bad wash materials/technique.

Do you use soap and water to wash your bike, or are you a detail spray wipedown kind of guy?

Check out this video on the 2-bucket wash process for a little more enlightenment:

I use a two bucket method and a microfiber mitt. I always move the mitt in straight lines front to back and barely use any pressure. I never do the spray detail, it gets washed and then cleaned up. I have a Air Force blaster thingy to dry the bike with.

Yeah it's just a mitt I got at autozone or something. Looks like it has a million microfiber dreadlocks on it. Looks like all my towels are junk too.

Are there any good packs of towels that aren't a ton of money that I can get my feet wet with? And any suggestions for a better wash mitt or sponge?

If you already have scratches or swirls in the clearcoat you will need to polish them out first or you will just be covering over these blemishes. Wash and then clay your bike and then apply some compound like Meguiars M205. You can do this by hand or it is much easier to use a dual action polisher to speed things up. This will very slowly grind down the uppermost layer of clearcoat and remove all blemishes to leave a perfectly smooth finish on your paint.

After all this work you will want to maintain a perfect finish so this is where the high quality towels come into play. Now that the paint is perfect from this point onwards only use a high quality towel (no tags, no edges) every time you touch the paint. Applying sealant, wax, detail spray, washing - use a good towel to avoid scratching the clearcoat again. When needed wash using the 2 bucket method and dry with a waffle weave microfiber towel (these hold way more water than standard microfiber) and the paint should remain perfect without scratches or swirls.

I use these microfibers that run about $5 each - the ones made in South Korea are much more highly regarded than the Chinese-made towels:
http://www.theragcompany.com/16-x-16-DETAIL-MASTER-PRO-Eagle-Edgeless-Blue-41012-1616-B-EL.htm

Keep your good towels separate and wash them alone (never wash with cotton items nor use any fabric softener) and dry them with no heat. You can use your old microfibers for cleaning the windows or interior.

I have a questions for you detailing pros:

Whenever I detail and wax my car it becomes a magnet for dust. (much worse then normal).

All the rubbing must create some small static electricity charge on the surface of the car that attracts dust.

Is it the type of MF rags (Costco) I'm using, or the wax (Zaino AIO) or just the act of rubbing? Is there a way to prevent this?

If I simply wash my car, instead of wax it, it doesn't create this "dust magnet" affect.

I use these for wax/polish removal
http://www.microfibertech.com/edgeless-microfiber-polishing-towel-16x16.html

I always let the wax cure then wash it or apply a quick detail or spray wax. These are my favorite spray wax/quick detail/rinseless wash towels
http://www.autogeek.net/chinchilla-microfiber-cloth.html
They are a bit spendy so I have some Eurow **** towels that primarily use for rinseless wash and the Chinchillas for qd
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eurow-Micro...659?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad4e67fab
They are almost as nice, but about half the price. Only thing I don't like is that they don't come in a 16x16

If you are going to apply CarPro coatings these are the best excess removal towels
http://www.carpro-us.com/suede-microfiber-16x16-10-pack/

Hope this helps. I'm looking forward to trying some Adams towels soon...

Almost forgot, I've sound more of a static effect when using a more traditional paste wax. Try using Collinite 845. I haven't had the issue with this wax. It has some quirks, but it is really a great product. You'll want to get a squeeze bottle for it and make sure you put it in warm water or leave it out in the sun prior to use.

You should just come to my house and pick some up. :)

Carnauba naturally attracts dust, there's no way to avoid it. While it offers great protection and great looks, dust attraction is part of the deal.

Synthetic sealants attract much less dust because of their lack of this material in them.

Thank you so much! My bike got a bit of rain on it and now it's covered in dirt spots where all the dust was on the paint. I did use carnuba wax on it so I guess it attracted a ton of dust. I'll get it cleaned up again with the products you sent and report back. Thank you again!

Kudos to nmcqueen469! That's a lot of freebies! Lots of good info in this thread for those who wish to absorb it. I will accept that there are some that may not be as particular about their paint and for them, the stuff from Costco or other big box stores will be perfectly sufficient. I've been ordering from Microfibertech when they first started making these towels available (must be nearly 15 years ago?). Also been a customer of detailersdomain (Phil) for quite a while as well. He does sell boutique products, but his knowledge and customer service is exceptional and his product line is excellent. Got a detailing problem, talk to him and he'll steer you straight. His motivation isn't to sell you a sham wow, it's to help you learn how to detail your car. If you enjoy it and you get the results you're looking for, you'll buy more product.

Another thing that wasn't made clear was there are different towels for different purposes. A glass MF towel typically has a very shallow nap and very little linting after the initial wash. I've been using a drying towel with a waffle weave pattern from Microfibertech for over a decade (just ordered a replacement Adams towel). I'll typically keep two levels of plush towels for polishing. One used for bulk removal of the polish or sealant, and another for the final buffing or detailing spray.

The initial cost is a little high, but these last a LONG time if you take care of them. I do have a few Costco towels in the mix too...for interiors and door jams and for wiping down the dog after he's come in from the rain.

Ultimately, the biggest source of the fine marring on the paint is how you wash and dry your car. Pay attention to that and the tools you use, and you'll keep your car looking great. And if you picked up your MF from one of the autoparts stores, throw them in the trash. I've never seen anything there that I would put within 5 feet of my paint.

A HUGE thanks to nmcqueen469! I received a package this weekend that included a waffle weave towel, a microfiber towel, a huge wash pad, soap, detail spray, and window cleaner! I can't believe he sent that much product! Thank you so much!

I gave it a go on my motorcycle this weekend and the stuff is truly superior. I will be buying some more towels next time I get paid for sure. The soap really got most of the bugs off without much scrubbing or using bug remover. It was great! The detail spray was nice to wipe down the bike from any remaining water spots. I would say it is as good or better than the meguiars detail spray I have used. I didn't get a chance to use the glass cleaner but I will soon when I wash my car. Thank you again to nmcqueen469 and Adams polishes, I will certainly be doing business with you guys in the future!

Adam's Polishes makes some of the best products on the market. Along with quality products, Adam's does a great job of color coding the products. The orange polish works with the orange pad, the Blue Rinseless Wash with the Borderless Blue Towels, etc.

If you're looking for a deal, Borderless Blue Towels lower than Adam's retail price. Also, check out the blog for coupon codes. Click link below:

Thanks to Nick, I got to try their quick detailer (AND LOT MORE!, ABSOLUTELY FREE!!). It just displaced my previous quick detailer champ aka DG Aquawax. I have about half dozen quick detailer products and AdamsPolish is the best in terms of ease of application, shine and slickness. I only tried it on the single panel and will see how long it lasts.

Over the years, I have purchased different detailing products from various sources. That has now stopped. All my subsequent orders will be going through Nick!

Glad to hear you like it. It's no accident that our Detail Spray is the juice the company is built around.

Yep, it's perfect for that.

I'd throw a coat of wax or sealant on the box also, keeps finger prints from sticking, and when they do, are much easier to clean off.

I got a big chuckle out of reading this thread.

To put it in perspective for those of you that don't understand, or think it is crazy to pay that much for a towel think of it this way.

You can compare it to tools .. some of you are ok using a chinese tool from HF or WalMart, and some prefer to use extremely high quality tools like SO or Matco, etc.

This is no different. When I spend as much time as I do making the finish look as perfect as possible, I am not going to use a piece of **** towel that will cause damage.

If you think your cheap towel isn't hurting the paint, go grab a blank CD, turn it over and rub it with your cheap towel with the same pressure you use to dry off your vehicle. See what happens.

I also have a little different take on it than some of my fellow detailers do .. I think it is great people are using those cheap towels. I wish more people would. It creates more work for me and that is always a good thing.

Thanks for sending me the 2 towels to try and the detail spray and Leather cleaner were a nice surprise.

Lucky for me I have some light colored leather to try it out on. I watched the video and it said to test on a small area first. Do you dilute it? I have very light gray leather that looks nice but soils easily. Its a 2013 Infiniti, will that be Ok on that leather?

Thanks,

You can dilute it, but you don't have to. It's saline-based, not soap-based, so it won't leave behind any stick residue and does a great job at cleaning. Since it is relatively strong, always best to test in a small area first to make sure you don't get a lot of color transfer. On that color, you will be fine though. Red leather is the only color I've seen transfer.

Adam's Detail Spray is the best on the market! I have tried a few others and they aren't even close. The new formula is even better than the original. It doesn't streak and has wax boosting technology!

Their towels are just as good. Adam's no longer carries the Single Soft, but alternatives are available!

Also, make sure to attend an Adam's Detail Clinic @ your local Dealer. We just hosted our spring event and had Adam run it! We plan to host another event this fall, so if you're on the East Coast, mark it on your calendar!

Lots of goodies guys. With all the great reports I'm excited to get my samples.
Went to STPR yesterday so now my wife's FXT is dirty. I'll have to clean it today without trying any Adams products. There's always next time... Here's a pic from last week's new product trial. Cherry Bomb shampoo paired with my foam cannon.

Is this the soap that you were sent?

I'm running out of my Detailers's Xtreme and will be looking either purchase the same or give something else a shot. Have you tried the soap out and what do you think of it?

nmcqueen469, does the soap I linked above for adams also work in a foam gun?

Glad to hear you like it. It's no accident that our Detail Spray is the juice the company is built around.

I probably missed out on the giveaway, but is this the detail spray? Seems reasonably priced, may have to order some once my Meguiars runs out...which is very soon.

JDSV, yes that is the soap, and yes, it works great in a foam gun, or a cannon, or a bucket, or with a wash pad, or with a wash mitt, or in a bucket, etc. We have one Car Wash Shampoo, and it works everywhere!

Yes, that's our Detail Spray in the link you posted. I think it's the best on the market, but I may be a little biased. :)
