Hey guys. wife was boiling pasta on microwave with steam hitting the electronic side of it. now microwave works fine but the vent will turn on randomly on and off for short bursts throughout the day. i have messed with the filters but still same thing going on.

any suggestions?

i read that some microwaves do this to cool down, but it has been like this for a week.

They will turn the fan on if the range under them heats them up. But not if everything is cold. I'd give it time to dry out, and boil your pasta on the back burner next time.

might be good to add a bowl of uncooked white rice and keep the door closed for a few days. the rice will absorb any moisture. used that trick on wet iPhone twice and works great.

You have gotten water into the keypanel in all probability. Set a fan blowing on the bottom of the microwave control panel trying to get into the same cracks at the bottom of the microwave that water vapor got into. Let it run for a day or so and see if that drys the moisture out. It may have to have a new keypanel at which time you may be nearly as cheap to get another microwave.
