I need something for those pesky low torque bolts and gun parts. Between 10-50ft lbs generally. Any suggestions for a DIYer that has some money but not enough for tool truck stuff?

An inch pound torque wrench and a torque screwdriver would be ideal for what you describe. CDI & Precision instruments are both well made and cost effective. Quite popular as well. Deals can be had on ebay for NOS wrenches,

These two are a good range for up to around 20 foot pounds (ideal for gunsmithing), I would say to pick up a 3/8 drive that's 5-75 ft-lbs and you'd be covered. Keep in mind 20% -100% of the scale is the most accurate settings, so these would give plenty of overlap.
