I'm looking to buy a mid rise lift. I have used Challenger lifts in the past and they've been great (regular car lifts). So I am looking at the Challenger MR6. However, the more I look at all these lifts, Challenger, BendPak, Titan, Dannmar (northern tool), even HF, they all look the same. I am starting to assume some factory in China is pumping these things out and everyone is just slapping their own paint/stickers on them. What do you guys use? After shipping its looking like 2K no matter which way I go, so i'm just leaning toward the Challenger anyways. Ideas? Thanks!

If garage is too low to lift full height ,take it outside when climate allows and work away. There was one at the shop I use to work for I would use it for just bout every thing.

You can watch videos, it doesn't look very hard. The power unit has a long handle for leverage to drag it. My concrete is not perfect so I don't know how easy it will be for me.

I can't find a price on the Mohawk, I would guess it's getting into 2 post lift price or more. Specs say 1700lbs, that's got to be a beast to move around.

I looked into the usl6000 6 months ago and was told it was no longer produced. Moreover it has a price tag similar to the number in its name. Best bet would be to look for a used one.

I have the bendpak MD6. My wife and I got it off our trailer and into place using...

1 engine hoist
4 1000lb HF movers
2 lifting straps
2 slate bars
1 floor jack

It is heavy but I was able to place it exactly where I wanted. I do not move my lift around but you can with the pump/dolly. I tried it, can move it but on a good day I am 170lbs and had a tough time.

How easy are the scissor style lifts to move around?

They are difficult to move around.
The lift frame has 2 wheels on one back end and the front rests on the ground.

The wheeled power unit (cart) has a pin that fits in a "hitch" hole on the front of the lift frame. You pull and push the lift frame around using the power unit cart much like a pickup tows a trailer.

To move the lift you have to LITERALLY lift the front end off the ground by using the power unit cart as a lever arm. The way everything is positioned requires the power unit handle to be pushed all the way down past 45 degrees to lift up the front of the lift frame pretty high off the ground.

The frame is about 800lbs so you have to hold all this weight UP, balancing it on the cart wheels WHILE trying to push and pull this entire thing around the garage.

Its a VERY STUPID design. I hurt my back twice moving this thing around.
Im in decent shape. First time recovery was a week. Second time MRI showed no serious damage, with probable pulled muscles and I recovered 8 weeks later.

If you buy one of these, get help moving it around. Consider making something that will fix the terribly awkward factory design for moving lift around.
