Can anyone suggest where to look for a full sized middle or top box to fully cover my rolling Craftsman chest that measures 26 1/4" x 17 7/8"?
I'd like to add some 3" drawers to the top, but most everything that I find is 16" or 12" deep.

Also, what is the purpose of having the upper boxes smaller base dimensions than the roller?
The shelf wouldn't be very usable, if at all, and it precludes getting into the the drawers behind the shelf when something perches there.

Snap50,

Sears sells full depth Craftsman chests in the 26" width. You may have to do an online order or a store order to get it. I have one and it's much more useful and practical than the 12 or 16" versions. And worth the extra cost.

Unfortunately their website doesn't give much in the way of dimensions for the chests that they sell. Very poorly set up site.

Well not everyone puts a top chest on top of a roller. I have a pair of 12" deep top chests on the end of my workbench that still allows me to use the ~12" of bench in front of them effectively. If they were deeper, they would hold more tools (not really needed in my situation), but would reduce the use of the work space in front. So useful for some, not so for others. I personally would want to match the top chest depth with the roller if that is where it would stay.

btw...the Sears in my area do stock a couple of full depth 26" boxes and can order you any that they don't stock (may or not be free shipping, but you can ask)

I just picked up an 18" deep 26" wide 3 drawer CMAN mid box last month. LOVE it. I got it through the website.

go to a sears outlet and check there first. my local one had one similar to the one linked, non griplatch, for a hair over $100. i thought about picking it up to add to my 41" box i just got the other day at the sears outlet.
