So in all my previous jobs they have used a midtronics of some sort to test all their batteries. Both in standard repair shops and fleets. It’s also helped me with warranty claims on personal cars through interstate and autozone when initially they said the batteries tested fine. So I have grown a bias to the midtronics brand in more ways than 1. However my current job doesn’t supply a shop battery tester and both of my coworkers use the older snap on/associates carbon pile tester. It is my understanding that this is the more accurate way of testing however for me I can’t get past the fire hazard aspect.
That being said I stumbled on an otc Sabre and found it very similar to the midtronics I have used. After doing a little research on it I see that, while the 1 I found doesn’t, it has the capability to print the results which is a big deal for me.
Does anyone here have any experience with both. The Sabre I picked up is the HD3167 but Matco also has a rebrand MD3167. Any problems? Pros/cons 1 to the other. The only issue I ever ran into with the midtronics was the screen failing in some way. Usually due to misuse or abuse though
