Hello been getting a lot of great ideas from this forum. I bought my first house and it has a new detached 2 1/2 stall garage (23 x 24 I think) It was perfect because beside the actual structure it was bare (no insulation or sheathing) and just two light fixtures, pretty much a bare slate. I have been insulating my garage like a frantic squirrel before winter comes.

I used 7/16" osb sheathing on the front wall and about 8 feet back, to keep cost down for now. i will eventually osb the rest and a long time down the road I will put up drywall. I also spayed the osb white with a industrial paint sprayer, which let me spray that **** on thick

For lighting I put two huge lights up in the rafters, which keeps it pretty bright, Still have plans for more lighting but this is pretty good for the moment

I also built some overhead storage to hold plastic tubs to keep them out of the way. I made a wheel rack as well.

The previous owners had replaced the countertop in the kitchen and was kind enough to leave it in the garage, so I made a wall mounted workbech. And next to it is a rolling workbench for metal work and banging on stuff.

Little bit about me, Im 24 years old and have been working on my cars outside, or in storage garages my whole life, I finally have a place now where I can work on my things comfortably and it is an amazing feeling. Everything that I own I pay for myself. This is just the begining and not anywhere near completion yet.

Thanks for looking

you should be able to see from the pictures, I screwed 2 x 6's to the rafter to secre the front and screwed the back of the shelf into the wall. I used construction Lag Screw , they are the best 10x better than regular screws

Nice! I'm (hopefully) going to have around the same amount of space and I now believe I can store my three cars and scooter in there. Is that Civic in the corner on dollies?

PSP, where in the midwest are you allowed to run those studded tires? I didn't think those were legal anywhere anymore for highway use....

And tell us about that metal bench, it's very interesting looking!

Wow those tires!!

Doing some Mud/Ice racing??

Never seen anything like that.

You sound excited about getting into a garage, its a great feeling to walk into your own shop and have everything where it needs to be. Small jobs that should take an hour, actually take an hour. Instead of spending the first hour getting what you need, dragging out the jack and extension cords, getting all the tools you think you are going to need. Something to work on.

Congrats on being cozy while working!!

Mm

holy cow I did not know I had so many responses! Thanks for the kind words. To anwser some questions, im from green bay, wisconsin

No the civic is not on dollies ( it is something I plan on getting eventually) It is just carfully backed into the corner. I couldnt imagine leaving my cars outside all winter so I am just using my space wisely:bounce:

The studded tires are for ice racing with my subaru, I made them myself with bolts, I have about 20+ hours into those tires.

I built the metal bench myself, the post are made from metal wall studs, with 5/16 plate on top, and 6" caster

Yeah its awesome being able to just leave all your tools out when you are working on something. omg and having an air compressor, heaven.

I ll post up some more pics of my toys too

I'll be building one for my hatch soon. Just trying to get an idea of what others have done. How did you mount it on the car and what size tubing... looks way better than the 1" ones they are trying to sell for the subie.
