I have a Miller 250 mig at my shop but sometimes I have a small welding job I need to do at home and the Miller is too big to load up. I was looking on FB for a decent cheap one. I seen this one advertised for $150. with cart and wire including regulator. I contacted the guy and he could not tell me any thing about execpt that it was his his fathers who passed away and he was selling off every thing. It was quite a distance to go see it and the fellow said he was a over the road truck driver and never knew what day he was off but could all me. I asked him if he ever travels I 71 in Ohio. and he said yes and said he had a load scheduled it about 4 eays to Ohio. I gave him a truck stop location, he said he would strap it on his truck and gave me a day and hour when he would be comming through. I bought it, looks like it has hardly been used. No papers came with it or make and model. I cant get the settings right to weld with it. The knob on the controls the voltage and also the wire speed, the next knob controls the current but also affects the wire speed. Then the third knob says "sync" I have had the cover off and see no information inside. By saying it is a 250. I figure it should be as good as some of the HF migs. I cant get the wire slowed down enough. Both knobs when turning them uup speeds up the wire feed. No chart is attached to it anywhere. IAnd I can't figure how you control the amp settings when arc welding. Any help appreciated.Note: It has a "yes" mig gun on it. I contacted Yes welder co. and they said they never made it. I have searched all over the internet and cannot find any info on it.

That welder can do stick and mig.

In "MIG" mode, you don't directly have a current control. You typically have voltage and wire speed control. More wire speed = more current. More voltage = longer arc, and greater welding power. I'm not sure why wire speed would change with voltage, but it does make sense that wire speed would change with the current knob.

I havent been able to find one like mine. For awhile AliExpress sisted it but I tried to get information on it. I see that a Co. called Perfect Power has one listed that look almost the same. I E mailed them for a owners copy. No reply so far. I don't understand why they would make it so that both controls speed up the wire feed. I am not getting good penetration and turn up either knob just makes more wire feed and higher heat. I want the same wire speed but be able to control the voltage or amps. Would it be possible to open the case up and try and figure which wire feeds the spool speed fron either one and disconnect it. Thats the trouble with all these China made welders, no support or service. I just did not want to invest &700 - $900 for a home mig when I had a good Miller. And while we are on the welding subject. My son runs a fab shop and he has 3 big Millers that are digital (over $3000) and they have all three gone bad. Miller told him to junk them. One no parts available, and the other ones too expensive to repair, plus 6 months waiting for repair. His go to welder for most jobs is the Lincilon 180.

Your amperage is dictated by your wire speed. I'm assuming your running 0.030 wire. Set your voltage to 18-19v and your wire speed to 200 (probably what the amperage is showing when setup for MiG). Give that a shot. If you get burn back to the tip up the wire speed a bit.

What would be the amperage of this machine. It says 250 but I doubt it. I would be happy if it was even 180-190
