OK hears my question. I am thinking about the Hobart 140 Mig welder. My question is while using this welder with .030 solid wire is this going to be AC or DC? Also should it be EP or EN? I will be using Argon/nitrogen mix 75/25 or something similar on these lines.Mostly will be used on exhaust systems, Thanks, Ken

DC, electrode positive with gas. Self shielded is electrode negative.

It's really an 023 wire machine. Running 030 is like trying to blow a golf ball thru a garden hose. You can turn small wire in it up far enuf to trip a 20A breaker.
