Mighty Mule batteries 660

Hi,
Joined GJ because of the great amount of info on Auto gate openers.
I noticed the mm660 requires an auto or marine battery unlike the 12v 7a
batteries for the other models.
Does the 660 have a more powerful motor requiring the extra amps ?
Will all MM models work with deep cycle battery ??
