I have not post here for quit a long time so I want to update. My wife & I moved from upstate NY to southern NJ where we lived for 10 years on a small property that had no room for our hobbies. After 10 years since we are nearing retirement we were looking to move out of southern NJ to another area a little farther south. We settled on southern Virginia just west of Martinsville. We purchased the home 1 1/2 years ago & spent 1 year renovating it as it will be our retirement home. We moved in August 2021 & on Monday we will be here for 6 months already & even with a full basement & a 1 car carport we needed storage space for my 69 Mustang Coupe & my wife's 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. We contracted with a local shed/garage builder for a 24x25 metal garage. This past week they leveled the ground & formed out for the footing & slab & poured the footing & slab on Wednesday, here are a few pics. The building is set for the week of 2/21 - 2/26 for the install. More pics to follow.

We are going to have a local company spray foam the complete inside, then we will cover the studs with 1/2" plywood, & the ceiling with 3/8" sheetrock all painted white. We are having a electrician run power from the house breaker panel out to the garage, lots of lights, 2 ceiling fans, & a lift to make it easier for this old man to do maintenance on our vehicles & so I can store my 69 Mustang & my wife's 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. Across the back will have a 60 gallon Craftsman air compressor, 6 foot long butcher block top work bench, & my stacked tool box. Along the side wall will be another bench & a Craftsman top box for the extra tools that do not fit in the other tool box.

The company came out on Monday & installed the frame & the wall covering, they were back today to install the roof, windows, walk in door, trim, & both garage doors.

Mike, the Mustang is a modified 1969 Coupe. It has a rear spoiler, front spoiler, & hood scoop from a 69/70 Mach-1, side scoops from a 69/70 Shelby Convertible, & a dual exhaust rear valance. Interior has the gauges that are Dakota Digital VHX 6-gauge style w/black alloy face in stock bezel, passenger's side dash panel is from a 69/70 Mach-1 with the clock striped of the wood grain overlay & painted black. It will have a custom made (by me) floor console, 69/70 high back bucket seats, & a stock Ford AM/FM radio from a 1980 TB converted to play my MP-3 player. The engine is a modified 1987 5.0 with aluminum heads & cam from a new Boss 302 crate motor, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, & it has Hedman shorty headers, custom built H pipe running through a stock style exhaust w/turbo mufflers. 9" Ford rear w/3.50 gears & trac loc & it has a T-5 manual trans. I have completely re-wired the car using a AAW (American Auto Wire) wire harness for a 69 Mustang. It is set up with an electric fuel pump in the gas tank & will probably run a FiTech fuel injection system. The distributor & ignition box are from Pertronix. The wheels are from a 1968 Mustang GT I owned back in the 80's & the tires are Cooper Cobra Radial GT's 215/70R14's in the front & 225/70R14's in the rear. The rear suspension has 1" lowering mid-eye leaf springs, & the front has a roller spring saddle & idler arm, 1" lowering coil springs, Shelby/Arning front upper control arm 1" drop, 1" sway bar, one piece export brace, monte carlo bar, weld on shock tower reinforcements, steel unibody brace behind the rear seat back, adjustable strut rods, & has Koni STR-T shocks at all corners.

@mmsheb thank you. I have done almost all the work myself except for rebuilding the engine & the rear end. I am hoping to hear it run late summer or in the fall this year. It would have been running sooner but once we decided to move & do one more home reno all work stopped on the Mustang & we concentrated all our free time to the house. It still looks like the above pic but with the f/e sheet metal installed sitting in the carport under a cover alongside my wife's motorcycle eagerly awaiting their new home (garage).

The town building inspector came out today & the garage passed inspection, now on to electrical.

Sorry I have not posted any updates for a few months. We had the inside spray foam insulated, I painted it white to reflect the LED lights, & I sealed the concrete floor with Foundation Armor SX5000 WB. This past weekend we moved in the air compressor, work bench, one of the tool boxes, my 69 Mustang Coupe & my wife's 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. Now we need to start filling the tool boxes.

It looks like the foam job was very smooth. What kind of paint on it? I'm always amazed at the foam panel kit I put on my garage door. It totally stops all heat penetration when the sun is on it. I think I would use foam panels on my metal shed but am always concerned with rodents getting behind it.

I see about $26 to 30K for all you have now but with prices the way they are, I could imagine double that.

Thanks ambenz, it cost about as it stands about 27K, good guess. I am hoping for Springtime next year to have the Mustang running.

428PI, we used interior satin white paint.

captain14, The thermometer in my F-150 today read 90° & the thermometer in the garage read 84° that is with both side windows open about a couple inches for some cross ventallation.

Not much has changed in the garage or with the Mustang. I have finally started back on the Mustang hooking up the oil & temp sender wires to the AAW harness, & I need to hook up the white wire over the radiator to the ignition box & I will be done under the hood. I hung up our garage signs & a couple clocks recently.

Yes, it made the metal siding very solid. We like the spray foam it saved us alot of time insulating & then covering the insulation.

I like it. I had to make a short harness from the blower resistor to the blower switch it did not come with & I foolishly tossed my old harness before getting the new one. I was supposed to reuse that part of the old harness which I would not have done anyway. I am replacing 50+ year old wiring I am replacing it all.

Today I got all the taillights & license plate light wired up, just need to do the backup lights & the lighting is all done.

Yes, you need electrical terminal crimpers. The AAW wiring harness kit for the 69 does not come with the harness from the blower switch to the resistor, so if you still have your old harness make sure you take it or do like I did & make one up.

Since the weather has been hot for the last few weeks & I wanted to work on the Mustang I bought an 18" 3 speed fan that I mounted on the side wall of the garage/shop. I was able to get some more work done on the Mustang over the last few weeks. I installed the crank pulley spacer, crank pulley, Alternator, alternator belt, carb spacer, Summit 600cfm carb, fuel pump, line from the fuel pump to the carb & the soft lines from the fuel line from the tank to the pump, from the pump to carb line to the carb, the air cleaner, pcv hose, radiator, upper & lower radiator hoses.

Put the Mustang back up on the jack stands so I can install the starter, removed the r/s header pipe for better access to the starter top bolt & wire from the starter solenoid.

Got the starter installed, hooked up the wire from the starter solenoid to the starter & reinstalled the r/s header pipe. Replaced the l/s hood hinge, ordered new hood hinge for the r/s. Marked & removed the r/s spark plug wires & distributor cap. I have to pull the distributor to prime the motor before trying to start it.

Worked on the Mustang some more yesterday. I pulled the distributor; spark plugs & valve covers. Used a cordless drill to prime the engine with oil in preparation for starting the engine. Timed the engine & reinstalled all I removed.

I have not posted in my garage thread in a while, since then I got the radiator & all the hoses hooked up, filled the brake system with brake fluid & started bleeding the brakes. I found a couple leaks which I have since fixed. One of the brake line leaks was on the distribution valve between the rear inner fender panel & the brake booster so the master cylinder, booster & the hydraulic clutch master cylinder had to be removed to gain access to the lines that I evidently did not fully tighten at installation & then reinstalled what I removed. The headlights in my 05 F150 were all cloudy & could not cleaned up so I replaced them with new aftermarket ones. I also found both of the lower ball joints on the F150 were loose, so I replaced both of them along with the front struts. Replaced all 4 tires & installed takeoff wheels from a 2010 F150. The F150 just went over 100,000 miles this past week.
