I have been known to buy something cheap at a yard sale, just to get the milk crate it is in.

Me too! I've even asked people at yard sales if they want to sell the milk crates that I knew that had stored stuff they were selling in.

Zeke, keep an eye on craigslist or auto swap meets for those type of types. I've seen them for sale at Carlisle swap meets (for people that attend them). Paid $3 each for them.

I go to this one scrap yard, they always charges a little too much, but they also always let me take two or three milk crates every trip! I forgive them for the prices but once the milk crate supply goes, I may have to find a new place.

I do the same thing...a local auction house I go to has these show up occasionally.
A lot of times what's in them is worthless (to me), but I'll bid the $3 minimum just to get the crate.

I used to work for a Dairy. At one time I was assigned to go on recovery missions to get the milk crates back. I saw some REALLY unique uses for them in places that I otherwise would have never gone.
Sure is a good thing they are sanitized every time.

Reminds me of the one a few guys had over in Desert Storm. The bottom was cut out, flipped over with a toilet seat mounted on it.

If you can't find the ones that fell off the back of a truck, Duluth sells them for $14.50 or $11.50 if you buy 4 or more . . .

All the above uses are excellent. My favorite is car wash stuff because I can throw the wet stuff in one and put it under the workbench without worrying about mildew.

I like the item description on the Duluth milk crates:

...totally not stolen...

LOL
