Hey all, I bought a mill/drill at an estate sale. It is missing it's motor and the motor pulley.

It's a Rong Fu RF-30 with eight speeds. I checked the net before I bought it and found out that despite the name it's not made in China but in Taiwan. Companies like Enco bought and rebadged them so they cant be all that bad.

The net said it came with either a 1 or 2 hp motor, obviously I want the 2 hp version. Here's the problem, without the pulley on hand I don't know what size the motors shaft has to be and the size of the keyway.

I have been racking my brain trying to find info about this but to no avail, then lightning struck! Duh! I bet a couple people on GJ have one or have had one.
Can anyone out there let me know the sizes I'm looking for? Also if anyone has a pulley for sale I need one of those too, thanks!!!

IF I was in your shoes and IF that was my main machine. I would consider putting a 3ph AC or DC motor with regen drive on it. You need to match the pulley sheeve dimensions and then match the motor shaft to the pulley bore. You want a 1725RPM motor.

Before I could put that stuff on it I would need to know what they are and what they do. What are they and what will they do for me?

I have checked the hobby machinist forums and have joined several but have not got any response.

There is a lull on weekends. The hobby machinist forum has a Rong Fu sub forum. Those guys that have them would take measurements for you. It is also sold by Enco and Grizzly. So parts may be available at both of those vendors.

In short, they will extend your speed range by giving you electrical manipulation of the motor speed and direction vs the stock, limited mechanical speed manipulation method.

Can you tell me what a regen drive is? Also, I have seen dc motors for decent prices but wouldn't they require an inverter to run off the power coming out of the wall?
Is regen drive something that can be dialed up and down like the speed on a drill?
If I were to buy a regen drive what details would I need to know about them?
Thanks
