I'm in the process of building a welder cart for my new Millermatic welder, what's the best spray paint to paint it with? Thoughts on the closest color to match the welder?

I powder coat my carts. The powder coat is inexpensive, durable, and fast.

I would seriously look into having it done if you have the ability.

Thanks for the responses. I'd love to do the powder coating but I don't know where to even start.

New Holand tractor . Was a real close match to my miller Dynasty.

We’ve owned over 40 Ford and New Holland Ag machines over the years. They have several codes/shades of blue depending on the year.

I’ve even bought OEM Miller Blue from MillerForLess that didn’t match new machines. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miller didn’t change shades throughout the years.

Look up if there are any shops in your area and drag it down there for a quote. I'd bet that's about $80 at an industrial coater. Not cheap, but it will look nice. I can't paint to save my life, so I have everything powder coated.

I don't do powder coating in my shop, I hire it done.

I get far better results than if I attempted to paint it myself.

I hire out coatings. Paint, powder, zinc, anodize, chrome, black oxide, all of it. I don't do coatings.

I take the part I want to match to the local store that supplies paint to the auto body shops. They scan it and the machine spits out the codes so they can mix up the matching paint.

FYI, take a faded color piece to match and you will get a faded shade back. :lol_hitti

I also pick stock colors. So easy to mod or change if needed. Powder has its place, not so likely to crack and get weather under it as it is outside equipment. I see a lot of it failed. For indoor stuff often don't bother to prime, simply give it a shot to get the color on it and no one notices perfection if its masked, not over sprayed and basically the correct color if it came factory that way.
I like paint as its fast, can do it myself when I want. I do see some powder here and am actually impressed with the price, its very reasonable. Having a system, place rigged to paint helps a lot, takes a lot of the misery out of it if its easier. I keep some color in stock I use regular, where it needs to be durable I use Imron Industrial.
Last pic is simple refresh during a mod job. I mask, cover labels, don't over spray stuff that shoulnt be. Doesn't always got to be perfect but not eye catching ugly.

I’ve done my share of masking off tractor tires. Ugh. Still easier than smaller diameter truck tires though.....

The nearest powder paint place I could find was a three hour drive away so I ended up going with POR15 paint. As expensive as it was, it's a dang good thing I only needed a pint... I may yet spray paint it blue but for right now, I'm good with what I got.
