miller falls small machinist vise?

I picked up a small miller falls machinist vise. I believe it is a 217 model. Really clean and nice.

The question i have is i am not a machinist. Are these universal or are they specific to fit a miller falls drill press, lathe or milling machine? Neat little vise.
I have a friend who is a machinist. I am thinking of gifting it to him as he has a mill but if it wont fit anything but a specific machine, that is probably pointless to him.

Nice small drill press vise. Not specific to a particular drill press

yeah..it has 3 mounting holes on the bottom so i figured it was maybe proprietary to a specific piece of gear.
