I have had absolute hatred for the M100 gun I put on my 252 for sheet metal work. It's ridiculously stiff and always wants to coil/bend and not lie straight. For lack of a better description It's like it has a twist internally. It's significantly more unwieldy that my 200 and 400a guns which is what is opposite of the intentions of having it. I replaced the factory .030 liner with a 023 and it was cut to the same length as the .030 liner.
I was thinking even though I know the liner was cut to the correct length it's too long. With the tip adapter off there is about 11/16" liner protrusion, so the liner is being compressed in the cable. With the adapter off so the liner is free to do it's thing , it's maybe better but still stiff and hard to orient.
Any ideas on how to remedy?

Did the larger liner protrude by same amount? Are you sure the smaller liner is fully seated wherever it needs to be?

The .023 liner you put in there and the outer cable jacket are fighting each other because you don't have them clocked the same.

What you need to do is get the liner configured in the same twist as the jacket.

The original factory .030 liner and the outer jacket were coiled together and had time to have their twist matched to each other.

Miller copied a Bernard style liner not a Tweco. The liner screws in and cannot be clocked in a different orientation.

I removed the liner and the cable is still just as stiff and resistant to even minor rotation (90 degrees) without wanting to spring back. My 200a gun can rotate well over 180 degrees before it wants to spring back and it's much less tension even with that amount of rotation.

Absolutely agree about the M100 gun, upgraded to the HTP / USAweld Miller compatible flex neck gun- amazing!
Zero complaints and a bargain

Any idea if the HTP gun works with miller consumables? I did the right thing when I bought the hated gun and bought a big pack of tips and nozzles.

I will have to find the .030 liner and compare, but I would assume so. The seated end is non adjustable.

TBH I dont know. The cost of a few nozzles and tips aint worth the headache you are dealing with... I would jump on a new gun if you cant sort out the coiling issue
