Main welder I use at work is a Miller 250 with 0.35 wire. Works good for what I do welding up busted **** on forklifts and skidsteers.

MM250 is a great welder. One of the industrial standards. Everywhere Ive worked has had either a 250 or one of its kin. My 252 can chase its origin back to the 250

As best as I can recall there was some little bug with the 250 they fixed with in the 251. There are a lot of guys swear by it though. I never had any close and up personal time with one.
I got a red Wirematic 255 and its a pos with absolutely no fan club. Doesn't run the same in any 2 days and fusses every time it has a wire change, really brand sensitive and some just don't run good at all. I was disappointed from day 1and should have traded it the day I got it. I thought it was just me, I had another red one worked perfect.
If I had to do any serious work would sell or trade around for a blue one a 251 or 252.

The 250x was the problematic one. The 200 and the current 252 are superior machines imo.

I have heard the 250 had some bugs, but the one I use has been flawless. While it's good to know of any issues with a machine, I feel a 250 is a reliable machine.

I have a 250x a friend gave me a few years ago. It has a bad board and he didn’t want to mess with it. It’s on the winter list of “to do” projects

The 250x was the "high tech" one wasnt it? With the fancy gun? I remember hearing about problems with that model.

No just a regular mig gun. They do have the 10 pin connector to hook up a 30a spoolgun tho.

I love my 180.

I really want a 252 one day.

I'll probably get a Tig/Stick machine next though...

I have a 251 that i got off craigslist about 10 years ago. Its ran great everytime I pull it out. My only complait is the handle thats part of the whole front bezel broke and its $400 to replace. I think I'll make my own.

I bought a Millermatic 250 brand new in 1995. I had start problems with it from day one. I always thought it was me not have the settings just right. A few years later the internet evolved and I found out that this was a common problem on the MM 250. I called Miller and they had me adjust the "run in" pot on the circuit board. It helped a lot but never really cured it totally. After owning the welder for around 28 years I sold it last November for just about what I paid for it. I bought a HTP pro pulse 200 and have never been happier. In general the MM 250 is a good machine. Just keep in mind it does have some starting issues and it is a little finicky to get it dialed in. It also has a very different arc quality to it. Some say it has a harsh arc? I don't get that terminology?
