Hi , been a while since I’ve been on here . I just purchased a Miller Vintage . I’m having what I believe is an issue with the wire feed . It seems to stall on the lower speeds but it’s fine up faster . It will rotate on low if the tension is not applied / sometimes it will push a little but seems like it’s slipping ( not the wire slipping but the motor ) but won’t push the wire . Not that I should be doing it but if on lower speeds I can stop the roller but on the higher speeds I can’t stop it . Brushes are new looking . Have a liner on order but I think that’s out of the equation . Question is should I have less torque on lower speeds . I would guess it might have a little but not enough to effect the overall wire feed performance . Anyone have an idea what could be the issue . This is a new to me machine that was put away wet and I’m cleaning it up Thanks , Richard

Replace the liner and tip first. The wire should be easy to push through by hand. Follow the manual instructions for setting tension. You can download a manual on Millers site. If you still have trouble post back.

Thanks Walkers , that’s in the works . Do you have a vintage or 200 , all about the same I think . Bypassing the liner and gun issues my big question is should I be able to stop the feed wheels by holding the wire from pushing out on lower speeds and not be able to stop it on high . And it’s not a slipping issue , the feed wheels stop . If you have one can you do that with yours

Maybe a better way to word it is , if someone has a Millermatic Vintage could you tell me if your machine feed has more torque at higher feed rates than low / can you stop the feed motor on low but not high . I guess I’m trying to find out if the new liner will help because the higher the speed the stronger the push
