Last year I finally was able to pickup a few acres deep in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. Recently I picked up a disassembled 30x50 pole barn and I'm having a contractor re-erect it.

It will be primarily used for storing my FSJ collection (projects), atv's, etc. Electric and water is very nearby so I will run that later. I live about 6 hours north so I am only there about 1 week per month as family obligations allow.

My main questions:

1. Should I go with full concrete floor for about $6000? I am waffling between doing the whole floor or half (30x25?).
2. Any insulation input?
3. Lighting options? I will be working on stuff while I am down there so I want to be somewhat comfortable.
4. Anything else I should be thinking about NOW?!?!

Any interior pictures of some pole barns so I can get ideas for layout?

Thans.

Are you going to heat the building? If I was going to store anything of value to me, I'd pour a complete floor. I'd also be concerned about sealing it up well. Keep the elements and critters out. Insulation under the slab is fairly cheap. Some do it, some don't. On a building that large, insulating the walls and ceiling can get expensive depending on what you use. If the budget is a concern, do the project in phases. You'd be surprised how quick the costs add up.
