Milton fittings question

Hi,

I just bought a cheap pancake air compressor (porter cable c2002) for filling tires, doing the odd bit of trimwork, potentially an impact wrench?

I bought the tekton 3/8 hybrid hose with 1/4 mpt ends and am now looking at fittings. It seems the milton v style are a popular choice. But I am not sure that they would be compatible with the fittings that are currently on the compressor.

What V style fitting would I need to replace what is currently on the compressor? Would it be the same coupler fitting that I would be adding to my Tekton hose?

you compressor is probably Milton M style . on that compressor you wont gain anything by going to V style. most all tools come with M , stick with that .

I agree, with that compressor I would just stick with M style (aka Industrial or I/M) fittings or whatever your friends use. They're the most commonly used & you can get them at and local hardware store when needed instead of ordering online.

High flow isn't going to benefit you much. Sorry to say but a pancake compressor isn't going to run an impact gun for very long. My first air compressor was a 20 gal & I always had to wait for it to fill back up to run my 1/2" impact.

I'm still running T-style fittings which is common for automotive & is what we used at the shop. I never bothered to upgrade to high flow fittings when I got my current air compressor & now I've pretty much retired almost all of my air tools (I don't work at a shop anymore).

M last longer. V have seal issues, that said I use v because the difference is quite noticeable, on almost everything. That doesn't include nail guns unless your dang fast.

I recently bought a 20 gal compressor which comes with a standard M coupler, however I run V style on my hose and tools. Does the M style on the compressor create a choke point for me? I also read some somewhere that V style plugs fit in M style couplers (universal), is this true?
