Milwaukee 12v

Looking at getting rid of my Makita 12v stick battery stuff due to batteries not holding a charge for long anymore. Thinking of upgrading to Milwaukee 12v, the question is to fuel or not to fuel. I have Kobalt 24v also so it gets the big jobs, this will mainly before for car interior work and jobs around the house, what say yeeee???

Beware, nichocha33, It's a slippery slope.
I received my first M12 on the GJSS exchange, (a used drill/driver with charger) a few years ago. It was like free cocaine; hooked me immediately, now own about 15 M12 tools, three chargers and a dozen batteries.

Made the move to M12 Fuel a couple of months ago. Have no regrets. I say for the 12v get the Fuel. Maybe get the ratchet in non-Fuel depending on use case.

Hell, everything on here is that way. I now own tool brands I’d never heard of till I joined here lol

For me, my m12 stuff is secondary to bigger Dewalt 20v tools, so I have non fuel. It replaced a craftsman nextec kit, so even the brushed stuff is an improvement.

If you are using it everyday or as primary, I would do fuel. If secondary or infrequent, I wouldn't dismiss non-fuel.

I think I can get away with m12 on drill and impact since I have my Kobalt 24v and maybe go fuel ratchet? Any circumstance where you wish you had fuel and the Yellow stuff wouldn’t fit?

I haven't had it long.

If I had a significant amount of stuff to do, I would go right to my Dewalt stuff, so I don't foresee running into an issue.

Kind of what I figured, I’ll check both out but leaning towards non fuel for price alone plus more room for other tools

Get the fuel except look at the ratchets. I have the non fuel 1/4 for speed and size and I have the fuel 3/8 for power. Then when the come out with a gen 2 fuel 1/4 hopefully the head will be smaller

For the ratchet depends on your work and the drive size you might want. I have both a Fuel and brushed version both with the 3/8" anvil. The Fuel is much larger and heavier, and the tool handle is bigger around.

I like them both but the new Fuel allowed me to appreciate the light feel and compactness of the older tool more.

1/4" drive Fuel on the other hand is dimensionally similar in length to the brushed tool so for that choice I would also recommend going Fuel if the cost isn't prohibitive

On the drill and impact driver combo play the sales right and can get a FUEL setup for maybe about $70 more than the non fuel combo version (which is $99 right now) and in the past the brushed ratchet was an add on promo too. Can't say if we will see that again though.

Again I have both M12 versions of drill and impact now nothing wrong with the brushed tools small lightweight and decently powerful they make good homeowner/hobby/light mechanical tools and the barrel type grips are more contoured than Fuels (great for smaller hands).

The M12 FUELS without a doubt are a FAR superior tool for performance, the Drill with 1/2" chuck easily rivals larger battery tools

Ran home with the Driver and impact m12 combo, they were out of the fuel so I think it was fate, I’m sure I’ll be happy either way. Thank y’all for the help!

Yeah I’m sure it is but for my needs I think it’ll fit fine. I have my Kobalt stuff if I really need some *** behind it. I also feel that if I’m using say the impact and need some more ummph I can look for a used fuel or wait till one goes on sale. I just need this for small in the house projects, under dash and interior work the rest will get the big gun.

I have so many of the m12 stuff I can agree with the addiction lol.. Surprised no one said jacket yet!! They have plenty of power for almost everything. Just get the bigger batteries for the boost. I have a 6ah for my 1/2" stubby impact.
