I picked up a Milwaukee 18v Fuel 1/2" impact (model 2763-20) today, and it came with one 5.0ah battery. I know this is a difficult question to answer, but how much life do you typically get out of one battery (on an impact)? Reason I ask, I am trying to decide if its worth adding a second battery....my Matco 3/8" impact only came with 1x battery, and it hasn't been an issue. Of course, I've yet to run it really hard, and have a feeling I may get a little more use out of the Milwaukee.

Its always nice to have that second battery, even if its just a 2.0,3.0 etc...

Gives you that extra 45min to charge the big 5.0 with no downtime.

On that tool it will last a very long time. On some tools they run down relatively quickly. For example the vacuum cleaner and the blower use a lot of juice but impact tools don't so I can't see how this would not last an entire day easily unless you work for Discount Tire.

What he said. My first lithium tool had no battery indicator, and it was disconcerting to discover it suddenly die, but at least I had more batteries. The M18 has a gauge on the battery. You'll be amazed how much work you can do with one.

I suspect that if you did work at discount tire, you'd still not need to charge over lunch.

I used one when I worked for Goodyear. I had 1 5ah battery and charged it maybe once every 3 days. That was using it for everything from tire rotations to driveline and suspension work including pushing balljoints and u joints.

I have a 3/8 impact and a drill at work. This is a 24/7 facility and a lot of people use them. With the 4.0ah battery I might charge it every week. They last a loooong time.

I don't have the Milwaukee but Ingersoll rand with 5.0ah batteries and I use it pretty much all day every day and usually get 3 or 4 days on a full charge.

I would guess it depends on the condition of the battery assuming this set was used when you bought it. If so, it could be in like new condition or heavily used up/slightly damaged internals.

I think as long as you're not a pro, that battery will be fine. I've never had mine (and I only have 4.0 batteries) not last though a full job, with plenty left over.

I look at cordless tool batteries like *****, I would much rather have two or more, even if I can only use one at a time.
