I have a crazy problem going on with my m18 red lithium impact and batteries. I can use the impact, let it sit for a few minutes then it wont run. I can pull the battery, put on the drill run it for a few seconds then put it back on the impact an it works fine. Called Milwaukee they had no idea. Any one seen this issue?

Do you still get the same run time out of the batteries? I am wondering if your battery is going bad.

We just recently had a similar issue with one of ours. The only difference was if we pulled the battery and put it back it still wouldn't run(with a known good battery), but would run if you let it sit for a while. We took it in for repair to our dealer and they couldn't replicate the problem and gave it back. Seems to work now for some reason, although it hasn't been used much since. It seems to me like an issue with the trigger, I believe everything still lit up, just wouldn't turn.

We ended up buying another kit though, just as a back up. Maybe there is a reason they couldn't find a problem. lol

These batteries are overload protected. Did you get the tool hot or the battery hot. Did you leave it in a truck and park the truck in the sun. This happens all the time here in Arizona. Nothing likes 150F.

My Milwaukee 3/8 impact will do very similar if it gets wet. In my case it will not work at all or it will set itself to the lowest torque setting for a day or two until it completely dries out.

I have 4 batteries and all do the the same thing and work fine in the other tools. Im thinking something going on with the impact.

In your basement...seriously, go look now!
If the battery works for the drill without issue there's something wrong with the impact - either it's sending a short circuit signal to the battery to prevent overload or there's a connection problem in the impact driver itself (likely the latter versus the former).
